The First Candle (Or, The Birth of an Idea)

Every story has a beginning, and for Ahrr Supply, that beginning smells of salt air, weathered wood, and the faintest hint of distant rain. It smells like Safe Harbor.
The first candle I ever made was inspired by a trip from Brooklyn to the eastern end of Long Island. A journey through Greenport, on to Shelter Island, then Sag Harbor and Montauk, ending at the iconic lighthouse—a sentinel at the edge of the world. That trip was more than just a physical journey; it was a collection of moments, of scents, of memories.
I came home with a story that words alone could not tell. I could describe the bracing sea air, the scent of the dunes, the feeling of standing at the edge of the continent. But language has its limits. The closest I could come to truly sharing that experience, to bringing someone into that memory, was to capture its scent.
This is the origin of our philosophy: Scent, Place, Memory. I hold the specific memory of that trip, but the scent is a vessel. It is a layer of the story that transcends words, an emotional expression through olfaction. My hope is that these scents, born from my memories, become a layer in your own—a quiet companion to your moments of peace, a familiar fragrance in the story of your home.
